'BABY-FRIENDLY HOSPITAL' PROJECT

Within the scope of the Ministry of Health's efforts to encourage breastfeeding and to provide mothers with information and correct habits about breastfeeding, the Breastfeeding Promotion and Baby-Friendly Hospitals Program was launched in 1991 to ensure that breastfeeding becomes a successful and established practice in hospitals providing maternity services.

From hospitals providing maternity services; Hospitals that inform expectant mothers about breast milk and breastfeeding from their pregnancies, enable mothers to breastfeed their babies immediately after birth, and assist mothers on how to breastfeed their babies with up-to-date trained health personnel receive the title of 'Baby Friendly Hospital'.

As Manisa Private Grandmedical Hospital, we have the title of BABY FRIENDLY HOSPITAL.

OUR CORPORATE POLICY

1. All of our staff are trained through in-service training on successful breastfeeding and the importance of breast milk. The training provided is carried out and supervised as applied and in-service training.
2. The importance of breast milk and successful breastfeeding techniques are explained to expectant mothers who come to the hospital before delivery.3. Breastfeeding is provided by helping the mother in the first half-hour period after birth.

4. In particular, working mothers and mothers with nipple problems are informed about expressing breast milk and its storage conditions.
5. It is ensured that the emotional bond between the mother and the baby is ensured through breastfeeding and that no food or drink other than breast milk is given to the baby unless it is medically necessary.
6. In line with the education received by the mother, the continuity of breastfeeding of the baby is ensured as long as they stay in the hospital.
7. The mother is informed about her own nutrition during breastfeeding, and breastfeeding is encouraged whenever the baby requests it.
8. It is explained to mothers that it is wrong to give false breasts and bottles to breastfed babies.
9. The mother is convinced that after the first 6 (six) months, feeding only with breast milk, it is necessary to switch to complementary foods, and that breastfeeding should be up to 2 (two) years of age and above, even if the request is corrected.
10. Mothers and babies are informed about home visits or phone calls within 10-15 days after birth, evaluating whether the education given to the mother is sufficient in these interviews, and health institutions they can apply to help the baby and mother with their health problems.
11. International food code is adopted and implemented in every field of our institution.

OUR LASTING POLICY

1. A written breastfeeding policy has been established in our hospital, which is communicated regularly to all health personnel and all hospital staff in working departments who first encounter pregnant, puerperal and infant.
2. A training program has been prepared in order to provide the necessary knowledge and skills in line with the policy for all personnel, primarily the health personnel working in the relevant departments. Within the scope of this program, trainings are held regularly.
3. All pregnant women receiving service in our hospital are informed about breast milk, the benefits of breastfeeding and breastfeeding practice.
4. Unless there is a medical necessity, only breast milk feeding is recommended for 0-6 month old babies who apply to our hospital.
5. After the 6th month, it is added to suitable additional foods and breastfeeding is encouraged up to 2 years and above.
6. In our hospital, the necessary training and professional assistance is provided by our healthcare personnel to mothers to start breastfeeding within the first half hour after birth.
7. A nursing room has been arranged so that mothers can breastfeed comfortably.
8. In our hospital, posters, banners, equipment, brochures or gifts that bear the brand of breast milk substitutes or encourage the use of breast milk substitutes are prohibited to pregnant women and nursing mothers.
9. Mothers who gave birth in our hospital are informed about how to breastfeed their babies, and a breastfeeding assessment and practice is made. In addition, mothers who will be separated from their babies for various reasons are given practical training on how to continue breastfeeding. Education is given about breast milking and storage conditions and how and in what way they can be given to their babies.
10. After the birth, it is ensured that the mother and baby stay in the same room for 24 hours so that they can easily establish visual and sensual contact. They are not allowed to stay in a separate room except for health problems.
11. By explaining the benefits of breast milk to mothers, breastfeeding is encouraged and mothers are encouraged to breastfeed willingly.
12. Bottles and pacifiers are not accepted in our hospital, mothers and other family members are trained so that they are not given to babies.
13. Mothers who will be discharged from our hospital are trained to continue breastfeeding after discharge, and to solve these problems if they encounter breastfeeding problems.
14. Mothers are encouraged to breastfeed their babies frequently (on demand). There is no time limit for breastfeeding.15. In this institution, “Baby-Friendly Hospital and Correct Breastfeeding Practices” are adopted and it is aimed for every newborn baby to be healthy.
