Manisa Private Grandmedical Hospital Chief Physician Op. Dr. Mümtaz Kahya delivered a seminar for Yunusemre Municipality staff, neighborhood headmen, department directors and deputy directors to emphasize the importance of early detection in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. During the seminar, participants were informed that breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among women and that early diagnosis and treatment significantly improve the chances of recovery. The importance of healthy eating and regular exercise in reducing cancer risk was also highlighted.

ONE OF THE MOST COMMON CANCERS AMONG WOMEN

Chief Physician Mümtaz Kahya stressed that women should perform regular breast self-examinations and attend screening appointments on time to support early detection.

“Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women, with lung cancer ranking first. What can we do to protect ourselves? We should pay attention to healthy eating, regular exercise, an active lifestyle, early pregnancy, prolonged breastfeeding and avoiding hormone therapies where appropriate. What steps can we take for early detection? We must perform breast self-examinations, follow professional medical examinations and monitoring, and participate in screening programs. There is a very close relationship between tumor size and the stage at which treatment begins. We must never lose sight of this,” he said.
