The hospital, which also has the title of Baby-Friendly, provides pregnant women and mothers with information on the benefits of breast milk and breastfeeding and the correct breastfeeding methods through its expert health personnel. Grandmedical Hospital Chief Physician Op. Dr. Mümtaz Kahya said that breast milk is very important for healthy generations and that they carried out such a social responsibility project to draw attention to this issue during the 1-7 August Breastfeeding Week as a hospital.
Grandmedical Hospital Pediatric Specialist Dr. Mehmet Emin Katrancı also made a series of suggestions on the subject. Stating that it is very important for mothers to be conscious about giving babies only breast milk in the first 6 months and feeding babies with breast milk up to the age of 2 with complementary foods after 6 months, Katrancı said, "Breast milk is a unique food. Breast milk has a protective feature against many diseases, "Immunity fulfills its duty. Breast milk contains all the nutrients. It is economical, easy to prepare, hygienic and there is no haste to prepare," he said.
Reminding that breastfeeding strengthens the emotional bond between mother and baby, Katrancı said, “Breastfeeding also has a protective effect on the mother from breast and uterine cancer. If the mother is breastfeeding her baby, it helps her to lose weight after birth. Breastfeeding should not be tied to the clock, the baby should be breastfed whenever he wants. The mother should pay attention to her diet and take plenty of fluids. Drink 1 glass of water after each feeding. It is necessary to stay away from pastries, oily and fried foods. A protein-rich diet is required. If the mother thinks 'my milk is enough', her milk will be enough," he said.
