Stating that 1.1 billion people smoke in the world and 6 million people die every year due to smoking, Dr. Ahmet Bilgin pointed out that 600 thousand of these deaths were caused by passive smokers in the smoking environment. Bilgin said, "Unfortunately, the rate of smoking is high in our country. It is estimated that 17 million people smoke in total, and this rate is around 27 percent for people over the age of 15. Every year, we lose 100 thousand people due to smoking. This means that 200-250 people in our country quit smoking a day. It means he's dead," he said.
